Vacationers with travel plans to or from Italy or Greece should brace for potential interruptions.
Air travel across Europe faces turbulence this week as aviation workers gear up for walkouts.
Strikes are set for tomorrow, 9 April, in both Italy and Greece, which could affect families embarking on journeys during the UK’s school holidays. Those planning trips ahead of the Easter break may also encounter challenges.
Travelers are urged to monitor their flight statuses closely and prepare for possible delays or cancellations.

Italy: EasyJet Cabin Crew Strike
EasyJet cabin crew members, represented by Italian unions FILT, CGIL, and UIL, are slated to strike on 9 April from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm CET.
This action is likely to disrupt select flights to and from Milan and Naples airports.
“We are committed to minimizing inconvenience caused by the strike and will reach out directly to affected passengers to offer solutions for rearranging their travel plans,” the airline shared with UK outlet The Independent.

Greece: Air Traffic Controllers to Stage Walkouts
Compounding the disruption, Greece faces its own industrial action on the same day, potentially intensifying travel chaos across Europe.
Greek air traffic controllers, under the public sector union ADEDY, have announced a 24-hour strike on 9 April.
The union is calling for the restoration of holiday bonus pay, meaningful salary increases, and solutions to address Greece’s housing crisis.
“The air traffic control system in Greece is struggling with staff shortages and outdated equipment, leading to significant delays in recent years and likely more this season,” the Greek Air Traffic Controllers’ Association explained to The Independent.
The association noted that during the strike, personnel will limit services to medical and search-and-rescue missions, humanitarian aid, military operations, and emergencies, as reported by Greek media.
As a result, commercial flights to and from Greece are expected to face the brunt of the disruptions.
Travelers are advised to stay updated on flight statuses and be ready for delays or cancellations.
